Great little story. The dialogue quotes / no quotes thing was cool and to me, underpinned her new unlife rather nicely. I also loved “Your situation is unfortunate,” he said. “But fate seems to govern that innovation is only fondly remunerated by posterity.” I didn’t understand that first or second pass. I enjoy writing that makes me work a bit here and there. Thanks for writing and sharing this.
